Short-haired cats manage well on their own most of the time, though they still benefit from de-shedding and nail trims. Long-haired cats are a different story — without regular brushing their coats mat, and mats pull on the skin.

Only if your cat takes it reasonably well. Plenty of cats do not, and forcing a bath is not something we are willing to do. In those cases we focus on brushing, de-shedding, nails and a hygiene trim, which is usually what the coat actually needs.

Sometimes. Staying at home removes the carrier and the car, which is often the worst part for a cat. But we will not push a cat that is genuinely distressed — if it is not going well we will stop, tell you honestly, and only charge for what was done.

Usually shorter than a dog groom. A brush, nails and hygiene trim can be quite quick; a matted long-haired coat takes considerably longer. We would rather do a good short session than a long stressful one.

More often than most owners expect, because mats form between visits rather than during them. Once we have seen your cat’s coat we can suggest a rhythm that keeps on top of it without over-grooming.

Gentle introductions are usually a good idea, since a kitten that gets used to being handled early is far easier to groom later. Let us know the age when you book and we will keep the first session very short.
